This may be a little crazy, but sometimes you have to be. I saw this video last week, and so I tried something similar when I went down to the Keys over the weekend. This time of year there are tons of Tarpon in the Keys. They are everywhere. I was at one of my favorite marinas where there are always Tarpon hanging out around the docks. I thought I would try jumping on the Tarpon and catching them with my hands. It is much easier said than done, but I was wondering with all the extreme sports freaks if folks would pay money to be taken to a hot Tarpon spot and instead of rod and reel, you just jump on them and catch them with your hands.
I personally believe there is much more sport in catching them with your hands. There is a heck of a lot more action. It may also be a bit more humane versus hooking them and wearing them out. You quickly jump on them and grab them, get a quick picture and let them go.
I suppose I also need to find out if this is legal. I would assume if someone is catching Marlin wtih their hands that this must be legal. Anyway, take a look at this video, it may be fake, but I thought it was great. I had fun trying to jump on Tarpon after watching this last week.
